Circa 1913.
Size 58cm long x 45cm high.
Printed by Three Castles Cigarettes and Tobacco.
One of three battlecruisers of the Indefatigable class was HMS New Zealand. The New Zealand government provided funding for the ship's 1911 launch as a gift to Britain.
The crew of the New Zealand believed that her reputation as a "lucky ship" stemmed from the Mori piupiu (warrior's skirt) and hei-tiki (pendant) worn by the captain during combat. The New Zealand helped to destroy two cruisers during her wartime duty and was only struck by enemy fire once without suffering losses.
